In nature, Female Discus fish lay it’s stick eggs on available natural things such as leafs, Plant stems, wood, rocks etc and male discus fish carries out fertilisaation of these eggs subsequently. Hence medium is very very important for successful fertilisation of Discus eggs. If you do not provide best options such as Discus breeding cone, your discus fish may simply deposit their eggs somewhere in the tank, which can make breeding difficult. Mostly male discus fish fails in doing fertilisation in such cases. Moreover, placing a medium like breeding cone on the tank simulates the tendency for breeding. Thus it can provide better results. Shape and angle of the cone makes good fertilisation and good batch results.

For better results, after fertilisation by male, eggs in the cone to be guarded by mesh. Breeding cone also allows the freedom in moving the eggs from breeding tank to hatching tank or raising tank, since it can lifted up easily from the tank.

Breeding Discus fish can be a challenge unless you are equipped with the proper knowledge and essentials. At the time of breeding, Discus fish tend to lay their eggs on broad, flat surfaces, so you need to make sure that you have good options available in your breeding tank for egg laying.

The plastic material is made of makes the it safe and user-friendly. Its shape provides optimal stability even during most intensive spawning periods. This stability is ensured by the proportions of the cone, which, based on discus breeders’ experience, have been found the most appropriate in practice. Its rough surface makes the eggs laid by the discus attach to it more easily. As the cone is made of plastic, the disinfection, which should be carried out each time we put the cone in the aquarium, is easy. It should be positioned in the aquarium in such a way that the breeding pair have all-round access to it.
