Bacopa monnieri is one of the most widespread Bacopa species. The leaves of this plant are succulent, oblong, and 4–6 mm (0.16–0.24 in) thick. Leaves are oblanceolate and are arranged oppositely on the stem. The flowers are small, actinomorphic and white, with four to five petals. It can even grow in slightly brackish conditions. Propagation is often achieved through cuttings.

Bacopa monnieri Compacta is a charming aquatic plant with compact stems and neat leaves. Compacta has pretty fresh green leaves but remains much more compact and develops a great structure.

By pinching off all vertical growing shoots, the plant can maintain a low and close growth, since it willingly creates a large number of side shoots.
Furthermore, the plant grows well in the shadow of other plants. Very suitable as a bit higher carpet – or bushy plant in the middle or front of the aquarium. The plant becomes more vertical growing.
